About

A five-week intensive French-immersion program is offered during the summer for young people with any skill level. You will discover the beautiful region of Trois-Rivières while learning French in classes adapted to your level.

Through classroom instructions workshops, sociocultural and sports activities, and field trips, you will not only improve your language skills, but discover a new culture as well; all while exploring, making friends from across the country, and exchanging ideas in a stimulating environment.

CLASSES

Our program focuses on an action-oriented approach (CEFR – Common European Framework of reference for languages), from level A1 to B2, so that students improve their oral and listening skills. We offer a diversity of learning opportunities through projects and games as well as grammar lessons and exercises.

A typical day consists of a minimum of three hours of class time, two hours of workshops, and one hour of sociocultural activities. A placement test will be administered either online before you begin the course or at the beginning of the course to determine your proficiency level and assign you to the right group. A post-test will be administered at the end of the course to assess your progress. Your full participation is expected.

DAILY SCHEDULE

Your daily schedule will be busy, with many structured activities on evenings and weekends, so prepare to be totally immersed for your entire five-week stay.  

MEALS

Meals are served 3 times a day at the cafeteria. Students get to choose between different meals, including a vegetarian option. If you have any meal restrictions due to medical issues or allergies, please contact us before the program to make sure we can accommodate you. Please note that we do NOT offer any vegan or halal meals.

ACCOMMODATION

You will be staying in residences situated no farther away than a 15 min walk from the College. Students will have their own private room. Please note that rooms are not air-conditioned and sheets, blankets, pillows and towels are not included.

There will be rules and guidelines to follow. Respect for your peers, the staff and for property is expected from you at all times. Students who fail to comply with the institution’s rules may be asked to leave the program.

 

SUPPLIES TO BRING WITH YOU

All learning materials are supplied. However, you must provide your own supplies, such as pens, pencils, notebooks, binders, and paper. Having a French/English dictionary at your disposal for the length of your immersion stay is recommended. We will give you in advance a list of supplies to bring with you.

FACILITIES

Students have access to these on-campus facilities: computer labs, library, cafeteria, sports center (weight room, dance and aerobics room, gym, field turf). Other facilities are available at a walking distance: dollar store (Giant Tiger), a drugstore, a hospital and various grocery stores.

SECURITY

The campus as well as the residences are watched 24/7.

TARGET-LANGUAGE POLICY

We have a policy about using the target language. These policies are provided to students and parents in writing prior to the start of the course. Students who fail to comply with these rules may be asked to leave the program.

RULES AND REGULATIONs

To insure the quality of the program, students are asked to respect these rules:

  • Speak French at all times;
  • Attend and participate in all classes, workshops and activities;
  • Respect curfew;
  • Alcohol and drugs possession and/or consumption are strictly forbidden.

Failing to abide by these rules may lead to expulsion at your own expense.
